Mired Analysis

A mired (micro reciprocal degree) measures color temperature shift independently of absolute Kelvin. One mired = 1,000,000 / K. Unlike Kelvin, where a 500K shift at 3000K looks very different from 500K at 6000K, mired shifts give a perceptually uniform measure of color difference. Cinematographers use mired to choose gel filters and predict how a light will render against a given camera white balance.
